In this article, Joseph E LeDoux Ph.D. points out that the Amygdala is not the “fear center” in the brain…it’s merely the mechanism of the “switch” that triggers fear.

In other words, fear is more based on what happens AFTER the trigger…what triggers your memories or perceptions. Example: If you have had a bad experience with snakes, then when you see one…then immediately, your amygdale is triggered…and instantly…maybe subconsciously…you feel fear. On the other hand, if you like snakes, then you stop and observe the snake with curiosity, to see what type it is…and remain calm.

In light of “the amygdale hijack” by the narcissist, yes, the amygdale is the “trigger”…but, what happens after that is based on your memories and perceptions. Yes, THAT is what you have to work on…control YOUR mind, be the master of your reality…be conscious….work on your past triggers and issues….don’t allow the Narc to control you.
